Playa Mesa Mexican Kitchen

Playa Mesa Mexican Kitchen is part of RHA’s continuing involvement with the rehabilitation of Costa Mesa’s 17th Street corridor. RHA was tasked with creating a new identity for this dated stucco building.

The new façade constructed with historical brick of Mexican architectural undertones, provides an adaptive reuse transformation. The authentic brick used to detail the perimeter of the original structure was offset with a new, contemporary covered patio, and framed by bold structural steel, board formed concrete and glass operable windows. Decorative concrete block applied in a modern fashion, further infuses the textural character found reminiscent to Mexican Coastal architecture. The surrounding exterior is accented by flowering bougainvillea interlaced through hand crafted, wrought iron frames and complimentary pops of teal color.
